Interpreting Services
Interpreting is a live and spontaneous spoken rendition from one language to another.
Consecutive Interpreting is the most widely used and simplest form of interpreting to organise. Speech is usually divided into sections whereby the interpreter will listen to the speaker, wait until they have finished their sentence, then begin interpreting into the target language. Consecutive Interpreting is delivered face-to-face or via the telephone.
Simultaneous Interpreting requires rather more preparation and organisation, but is recommended where there are a number of people speaking different languages such as multi-national conferences etc. Interpreters work simultaneously, often in small teams and usually in sound-proofed booths. The Interpreters listen to the speaker via headphones and relay the interpretation into a microphone at the same time as the speaker, providing listeners with a simultaneous interpretation via headsets.
Whispered Interpreting, also known as Chuchotage, is performed by way of an interpreter simultaneously whispering their interpretation to the listener whilst seated next to or behind them. Whispered interpreting can be provided to a maximum of 2 listeners at any one time. Usually no technical equipment is used, however sometimes wireless technology – microphone and headsets – can be used in larger settings
We provide experienced, registered and fully qualified (DPSI – Diploma in Public Service Interpreting) interpreters in a vast range of languages and dialects by way of a simple booking process, with quick access to local interpreters in a variety of settings and locations.
