Countess helps Dee-Sign Language Choir

Excited members of a sign language choir will be receiving a donation this week to help fund further performances. The Dee-Sign British Sign Language Choir, which performs to music at locations across the region, will be given a cheque for about £700 from the Countess of Chester Hospital.

The group, based in Chester, has seen rising popularity in and around the city since it was established in 1997.

This year they have performed at events in Congleton, the Winsford Lifestyle Centre and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne at the Hilton Hotel.

Choir director, Anne Hesketh, said: “I was invited to receive a cheque from Avril Devaney, director of nursing, therapies and patient partnership CWP NHS Foundation Trust on Thursday, December 17, at the Countess of Chester Hospital for £677.22.

“While initially I was anxious about the event, and wondered how it would be received, I am now so glad that we made the effort.

“The Hilton Hotel chain said they would like to use us again, so who knows where we will be next.

A big thank you to everyone who made this all possible.”

The choir will next be performing live on Granada TV next Monday, December 21, at 6pm-6.30pm.
